Privacy Policy

1. Who We Are

Ware (“we,” “us,” “our”) is a custom ceramic glaze service operated by Ceramic Materials Workshop, LLC, based in Epsom, New Hampshire. This policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your personal information when you use our website at wareglaze.com and our iOS and Android mobile apps (collectively, the “Service”).

2. Information We Collect

Information you provide

  • Account details: name, email address
  • Shipping address when you place an order
  • Payment information (processed by our third-party payment processor — we do not store card numbers)
  • Glaze designs, saved colors, and preferences
  • Communications you send us (support tickets, contact forms)
  • Waitlist submissions (name, email, interests)

Information collected automatically

  • Device and browser type, operating system, IP address
  • Pages visited, time spent, referring URLs
  • Cookies and similar technologies for site functionality and analytics
  • Mobile apps only: a push notification token from Apple Push Notification Service (iOS) or Firebase Cloud Messaging (Android) when you grant permission. This token is the only way we can deliver order-status notifications to your device.
  • Mobile apps only: when the app encounters an error, diagnostic information is sent to our error-tracking service so we can fix bugs. Personal information is scrubbed from these reports before transmission.

Information we do not collect

  • We do not collect your precise or approximate location.
  • We do not access your contacts, calendar, or other apps’ data.
  • We do not track you across other websites or apps.
  • We do not sell or rent your personal information to anyone.
  • We do not use third-party advertising networks.

2a. Photo library and camera (mobile apps only)

The mobile app asks for permission to use your camera and photo library only when you tap “Add a photo to a review.” Photos you choose are uploaded with your review. We do not scan, fingerprint, or analyze the contents of photos beyond storing them as you uploaded them. You can delete a review (and its photos) at any time from your account.

3. How We Use Your Information

  • Fulfill and ship your glaze orders
  • Provide customer support and respond to inquiries
  • Send order confirmations and shipping updates
  • Improve our products, services, and website experience
  • Send marketing communications (only with your consent; you can opt out at any time)
  • Prevent fraud and maintain site security
  • Comply with legal obligations

4. How We Share Your Information

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. We may share information with:

  • Service providers who help us operate — only as needed to perform their services. Specifically:
    • Stripe for payment processing (they handle card data; we never see or store it)
    • Shippo for shipping label generation and carrier tracking
    • Resend for transactional and lifecycle email delivery
    • Mailchimp for waitlist and marketing email
    • Vercel / Neon for hosting and database infrastructure
    • Apple Push Notification Service / Firebase Cloud Messaging for delivering push notifications to mobile app devices
  • Legal authorities when required by law, subpoena, or court order
  • Business transfers in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets (your data would remain subject to this policy)

5. Cookies

Ware uses only the cookies and local-storage entries we need to make the site work. We do not run third-party tracking, advertising, or cross-site analytics cookies. Specifically:

  • Sign-in session — a secure cookie set when you sign in, so you stay signed in across pages.
  • Cart contents — saved in your browser’s local storage so your cart survives a reload or a return visit.
  • Theme preference — saved in local storage so the site remembers light vs dark mode.
  • Cookie-notice dismissal — a single flag in local storage so the “we use cookies” banner doesn’t reappear after you dismiss it.

You’ll see a one-time notice on your first visit explaining this. You can disable cookies in your browser settings, but the site won’t be able to keep you signed in or remember your cart without them.

6. Data Security

We use industry-standard security measures to protect your personal information, including encrypted connections (HTTPS), secure authentication, and limited access to personal data. No method of transmission over the Internet is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security, but we take reasonable steps to protect your information.

7. Data Retention

We retain different categories of data for different periods, based on how long the data is useful and what the law requires.

Personal account information

Your name, email, shipping address, and payment history are retained for as long as your account is active. If you close your account, we delete or anonymize your personal information within 30 days, except where we’re required to keep it longer (for example, transaction records that US tax law requires us to retain for 7 years — in those cases we retain only what the law requires).

Operational and product data

Anonymized data about glaze recipes, batch formulations, color matching, and product performance is retained indefinitely as part of our product knowledge base. This data is not personal — once we’ve removed your identity from it, it becomes part of the technical record we use to improve the chemistry of every future batch.

Reviews and ratings you submit

Reviews are retained as part of the public product history. If you delete your account we anonymize the reviewer name; the review text and rating remain visible (since other customers may have based decisions on it).

How to request deletion

You can delete your account from your account settings page, or email us at the address below. We process deletion requests within 30 days. Where we must retain data for legal reasons we’ll tell you what and why.

8. Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have the right to:

  • Access the personal information we hold about you
  • Correct inaccurate information
  • Request deletion of your information
  • Object to or restrict certain processing of your information
  • Request a portable copy of your information
  • Withdraw consent for marketing communications
  • Push notifications (mobile apps): disable in your device’s Settings → Notifications → Ware at any time

If you’re in California, you have rights under the CCPA. If you’re in the EEA / UK, you have rights under GDPR. To exercise any of these rights, contact us at the address below.

9. Children’s Privacy

Our services are not directed to individuals under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If we learn that we have collected information from a child under 13, we will delete it promptly.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by posting the updated policy on this page and updating the “Last updated” date. Your continued use of the Site after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
